Gunnersbury Park
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Animal Keeper at the College’s Gunnersbury Park campus. The College houses educational animal collections in each of its campuses, where learners acquire applied skills in animal care and management.
The successful candidate will take ownership animal husbandry and welfare within the College’s collection, including maintaining and upgrading the animal facilities, and record keeping for their area of responsibility. In addition, our Animal Keepers will be supporting the Practical Instructors and Lecturers, ensuring relevant resources (such as animals and equipment) are readily available for learning. At times, they will carry out encounters for students, the public, and during the College’s commercial and recruitment events, including outreach to local schools, or other places of interest. Importantly, they will be experts in their area and animals they care for, modelling exemplar practice and ambitious animal welfare standards, while sharing their knowledge with the learning teams, to strengthen our provision.
Over the last 50 years, Capel Manor College has helped thousands of school leavers and adults achieve their dream of working with animals, plants and the environment. Our natural world is changing and needs your passion to help tackle the challenges it faces in light of climate change, sustainability, air quality, waste, and food security. As London’s only specialist environmental college, we are proud to play a vital role in the capital’s green agenda. The successful candidate will support the College in delivering qualifications that are valued by land-based employers and help kick-start learners’ careers in making a positive impact on our natural world.
