Kickstart a career full of development and progression at Newcastle College today! Newcastle College is now looking for 3 Teaching Assistant Apprentices to join their SEND Central Support Service!
The main purpose of the role is to provide 1-2-1, group or whole class support to learners with additional learning needs across all provision including Young People, Adults and/or those with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities. This includes working with teaching and support colleagues to ensure learners develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required for their chosen career path.

Role and Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Support and facilitate the learning of identified learners with additional support needs including those with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities.
- Support learners in all learning environments including travel or external activities.
- Assist in the preparation, adaptation, maintenance and organisation of learning resources including transcribing notes.
- Work closely with teaching and support colleagues to ensure learners can fully access the curriculum, using stretch and challenge to facilitate learning.
- Use agreed systems to complete and maintain accurate records, including delivered support to contribute to service income targets.
- Regularly review the progress of supported learners against targets including EHCP outcomes where relevant.
- Provide feedback to learners in relation to progress and achievement in partnership with teaching and learning colleagues.
- Contribute to the learners personal development, encouraging the development of independent learning skills.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of quality assurance and audit procedures.
- Carry out personal care as required.
- Attend all meetings/training/Quality days as required.
- Support a culture which promotes the NCG values.

Required Skills
Understanding of issues relating to learners with additional support needs. Good written and verbal communication skills. Basic IT Skills. Able to work flexibly including off site/some evening working. Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. We expect all colleagues to share this commitment. Must obtain a satisfactory DBS clearance.

Using their expert knowledge gained from time spent in the industry, we’ve tailored our programmes to use the most up-to-date tools and technologies so that the skills we create can be used directly in the workplace. As one of our learners, you’ll benefit from coaching, help and guidance from our dedicated team whose job it is to ensure your success. Successful completion of this apprenticeship gives you an accredited Apprenticeship qualification.

Maths and English, GCSE Grade 4-9 or equivalent
